BASICS OF THE CROSS

The cross, known as your rear hand straight punch, is one of the most powerful punches in boxing.

When thrown with proper technique, it can catch your opponent off guard, break through their defence, and finish fights.

In this section, you’ll learn how to:

  • When throwing the cross you want to ensure you are pushing off of your rear leg, twisting hips into punch and pushing through your shoulder for maximum power.

  • The cross is used in numerous amounts of combinations commonly straight after the jab as it is a good flow for body movement after the jab.
